Adopt me world record

Adopt me world record DEFAULT

For those unfamiliar with the phenomenon that is Roblox, it's less a self-contained game than it is a platform for third-party developers to release their own unique games and experiences onto. One of the most popular is Adopt Me, a game that sees players collecting and hatching cute collectable creatures from eggs. Adopt Me regularly breaks concurrent user records on the platform when releasing new content, and its latest release was no different, seeing almost 2 million players in the game at once.

The news was tweeted out by Adopt Me developer Josh Ling, who celebrated million concurrent players logging on for the game's April 17 Ocean Egg release. The Adopt Me studio DreamCraft beat their own previous record of million, and have been record-setters many times before that. Many of the comments on Adopt Me's tweets and YouTube videos come from Roblox players complaining about Adopt Me's massive releases "breaking" the Roblox platform.

The game's updates are designed to foster record-breaking numbers of concurrent users, encouraging players to log in to participate in a live countdown to new content releases. This results in the steep player spikes seen in Ling's screenshots, which he has previously taken to YouTube to explain after criticism that the player data looked suspicious.

Then, Ling had tweeted a celebration of Adopt Me's continued growth, pointing out that a concurrent user count of , was record-breaking in mid, while by early the game was hitting those numbers weekly.

Adopt Me also recently celebrated being the first Roblox game to reach 20 billion total visits, and was officially recognized in the Bloxy Awards for Most Visits, Most Concurrent Players, and Highest Total Playtime. The game sees regular weekly spikes between , and , concurrents, though at the moment its dominance is being challenged by a roleplay game called Brookhaven, which won Best New Game in the Bloxys.

Roblox as a whole has seen a lot of growth in the last year, which culminated in an impressive debut on the New York Stock Exchange earlier this year--though as recently as March , the company's CEO confirmed that it still doesn't make a profit.

Roblox Adopt Me Game is Becoming Insanely Popular, Breaking Records

By Arron Kluz

The popular Roblox game Adopt Me! continues to grow in popularity and has set some incredible records on the free-to-play games platform.

Popular Roblox game Adopt Me! has proved to be an extremely popular mode since it launched in The animal-raising RPG seems to only be growing in popularity, however, and has repeatedly broken Roblox records along the way.

Roblox is a free-to-play platform that gives third-party developers a toolset to develop and release their own game modes within its infrastructure. The game allows players to jump between multiple games with only one account, and there is an impressive variety available. There are Roblox versions of every genre on the market with most of them being entirely free for players to jump into them and play.

Adopt Me! sees players collecting different themed eggs to hatch and collect different pets of various rarities to care for and raise. Roblox is incredibly popular, and the new record set by Adopt Me! indicates just how massive the platform is. Josh Ling, the developer of Adopt Me!, tweeted recently that with the game's new Ocean Egg update on April 17, it reached a new concurrent player record for all of Roblox at a staggering million players. The record broke the previous record of million players that was also set by the game.

Adopt Me! does design its updates to strive for the large player spikes at release by encouraging its players to log in at a specific time to experience a live countdown leading to the launch of the update. Regardless, the numbers are extremely impressive. The game also boasts other impressive statistics, such as Adopt Me! reaching the incredible milestone of being played 20 billion times early last March. Even without the launch of a new update the game trends between , and , concurrent players.

Roblox has managed to steadily grow an extremely impressive player base and is only continuing to grow. The platform's sheer variety of experiences on offer lets Roblox have something to offer nearly every player, and it seems that Adopt Me! has managed to find quite an audience amidst the platform's marketplace. With the game's approachability, cute animals, and frequent injections of new content, it is not surprising that Adopt Me! has grown so large on the platform. While other Roblox game mode Brookhaven, one focused on fantasy role-playing, has managed to frequently get close to Adopt Me!'s dominating player levels, it seems that the reign of Adopt Me! will not be over anytime soon.

The Biggest Game on Roblox Just Opened Its Own Development Studio

The developers behind record-breaking Roblox game Adopt Me have launched an entire new studio to support it, called Uplift Games.A press release from Uplift Games reveals that whilst the studio was “originally founded by two talented Roblox developers, the team has now expanded to a strong game studio, including a mix of experienced Roblox creators and veteran developers".

Roblox is a hugely popular online platform, which allows players to create their own games for others in the community. Its success has been enormous, particularly with young players and, after going public in March, it was revealed that Roblox is now worth more than development giants Take-Two and Ubisoft combined.Adopt Me originally launched on Roblox in , and has gone on to become “the fastest growing and most successful Roblox title of all time”. Adopt Me is a game created within Roblox, where players can “build houses, collect and trade over cute pets, and use in-game tools to create their own fun with friends”. The game has seen over 22 billion visits to date, and set a new world record for concurrent players on Roblox, hitting million concurrent users in April The game also saw “% growth” of new players between January and January

With numbers like that, it’s no surprise that the team wants to flex its creative muscle and talent in a different direction – but Uplift also stressed its commitment to supporting Adopt Me through Roblox, stating that, “The studio will remain focused on Adopt Me, as well as future unannounced projects”.Interestingly, Uplift Games has been keen to highlight its positive health-focused approach to any projects it works on, stressing that, “The studio has an ambitious mission statement to deliver a healthy and inclusive working environment, while operating a hugely successful self-funded game. Developers have the freedom to work when and how they wish to meet development goals, which are themselves carefully managed by studio leadership to minimize overwork and burnout”.

Given some of the recent high-profile reports of intense crunch and developer burnout in the games industry, this is a refreshing approach to see from a development studio. A statement from Josh Ling, the Director of Business Operations, confirmed this approach, saying that “Uplift Games is a place where great successful games can be made by people who live happy and healthy lives”. It’ll probably be a while until we see anything new from Uplift Games, but at least the development team is free to work at their own pace.

Roblox's success is enticing more traditional game developers to the platform, with VVVVVV creator Terry Cavanagh creating his latest game exclusively for it.Liam Wiseman is a Freelance News Writer for IGN. You can follow him on Twitter @liamthewiseman

Role-playing game on the Roblox game platform

video game

Adopt Me! is a massively multiplayer online game developed by Uplift Games on the gaming and game development platform Roblox.[2] The original focus of the game was a role-play wherein players pretended to be either a parent adopting a child, or a child getting adopted, but as the game was developed further, its focus shifted to being about adopting and caring for a variety of different virtual pets, who can be traded with other players.[3]Adopt Me! has been played a total of 20 billion times as of March [4] Uplift Games, the independent studio behind the game, employs roughly 40 people and earns 50 million dollars a year, mostly from microtransactions.[5][6] The game was averaging , concurrent players as of January , making it one of the most popular games on Roblox.[7]

Adopt Me! revolves around adopting and caring for a variety of different types of pets, which hatch from eggs.[8] Some pets can only be purchased with Roblox's virtual currency, Robux.[9] Pets are grouped into 5 classes, based on rarity and cost. These groups are common, uncommon, rare, ultra-rare, and legendary.[10] Once hatched, pets grow from their starting status as newborns, growing up into juniors, pre-teens, teens, post-teens, and eventually becoming full-grown.[11][10] If a player has four fully grown pets of the same type, they can combine them to form a "Neon" pet, and four fully grown neon pets can be combined into a "Mega-Neon" pet.[11] Purchases within the game are facilitated both by Robux, and through Adopt Me!'s virtual currency, simply called "Bucks". Bucks can be earned by fulfilling the needs of a pet, such as eating and drinking, among other methods.[12] Players can also adopt children and roleplay with other users.[13]

Before , Adopt Me! had been solely about adopting children, in line with several earlier Roblox games with the same concept.[13] Originally, the game was a collaboration between two Roblox users who go by the usernames "Bethink" and "NewFissy".[14][15] The game added the feature of adoptable pets in , which caused the game to rapidly increase in popularity.[13]Adopt Me! had been played slightly over three billion times as of December [16] On April 1st, , Adopt Me! received an update that included a pet rock, available for a limited time. This update caused the game to achieve , concurrent players, which received attention as it was three times as much as the Steam game with the most concurrent players at that time, Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord.[17][16] As of July , the game had been played upwards of ten billion times.[18] In March , Adopt Me! reached 20 billion total plays.[4]

The highest number of concurrent players Adopt Me! has achieved is million.[19] Around a third of Roblox players on the Xbox One play Adopt Me!.[20] Due to the presence of microtransactions in the game and the target demographic being young children, there have been instances of children spending large amounts of money on Adopt Me!, including one particular incident where a child from Australia spent $8, AUD (US$6,) on the game.[21]

Whenever there is a major update to the game, the number of players playing can triple, which can cause platform-wide disruption on Roblox.[22]

Due to the high cost of pets within the game, with some rare pets selling for up to US$, a large subculture of scammers have risen within Adopt Me!. As the primary user base of Adopt Me! is on average younger than the rest of Roblox, they are especially susceptible to falling for scams.[23][24]

One of the most common ways in which scammers carry out their operation is through "trust trades", in which the scammer manipulates the player to trust them into trading a rare virtual item, promising to give the item back.[23] The scammer will then leave the game with the victim's virtual item, leaving the victim with no way to get it back.[25]

On November 5, , Adopt Me! released several new features focused on combating scams, including the introduction of "trade licenses" that are required to be earned before one can trade pets above uncommon rarity, the amount of pets you can trade, and the addition of viewable trade history and the addition of notifications to the player if the game detects a markedly unfair trade.[26]

Adopt Me! has received generally positive reviews from critics. PCGamesN, in an overview of what they considered the best games on Roblox, described it as "cute", and compared it positively to the Petz series.[27] Some Roblox users have criticized the game, due to it causing Roblox servers to occasionally crash when an update launches.[28]
