The latest on 2021 grad ceremonies for Clear Creek, Alvin ISDs

Though as of presstime no plans were yet set in stone, Clear Creek Independent School District is considering sticking with plans from last year’s graduation events, which allowed seniors to receive their diplomas in person with their guests in attendance.

For last year’s ceremonies, graduates, guests and district staff completed and submitted a self-health assessment before entering Challenger Columbia Stadium, 1955 W. NASA Blvd., where the district stages its high school graduation exercises. Participants practiced social distanced-seating and were asked to wear face masks. The district also livestreams the graduation ceremonies each year. For those not comfortable attending in person, they can tune in at

Corpus Christi ISD plans for 2021 graduations to return to American Bank Center

Corpus Christi ISD announced Wednesday high school graduations will return to an indoor setting at the American Bank Center starting Friday, May 21.

Seniors of the 2020 graduating class missed out on a traditional indoor graduation ceremony due to the COVID-19 pandemic. While the nation is still figuring out what the new normal is, vaccines have been made available to the general public and cases have started to decline in Nueces County.

Graduating seniors and their families will receive complete details about the event in coming weeks. A limit of four guests per graduate will be put in place, along with additional safety precautions at the American Bank Center.

CCISD superintendent Dr. Roland Hernandez greets graduates of King High School's Class of 2018 as they walk to receive their diplomas during the commencement ceremony at the American Bank Center on May 31, 2018.

“We are proud of our seniors for persevering through this challenging school year,” said superintendent Roland Hernandez. “We look forward to safe celebrations with the Class of 2021.”

A livestream of the ceremonies will be made available to the district’s YouTube channel so family and friends unable to attend may share in the celebration.

Doors will open an hour prior to the scheduled start time.

Safety remains a priority, and the CCISD's plans are subject to change based on the community’s public health status. If necessary, the district will hold outdoor graduations again, which could affect ceremony dates and times.
