There’s a reason the History Channel has produced hundreds of documentaries about Hitler but only a few about Dwight D. Eisenhower. Bad guys (and gals) are eternally fascinating. Behind the Bastards dives in past the Cliffs Notes of the worst humans in history and exposes the bizarre realities of their lives. Listeners will learn about the young adult novels that helped Hitler form his monstrous ideology, the founder of Blackwater’s insane quest to build his own Air Force, the bizarre lives of the sons and daughters of dictators and Saddam Hussein’s side career as a trashy romance novelist.

    Spot on

Insightful, intellectual, informative, and not stuffy academic.

    Couldn’t get beyond episode intro

The host is unpleasant and annoying. It’s a shame because the topics and premise seem interesting (if not macabre and depressing).
I’ll try a different episode in a few months when my ears have recuperated. My apologies to other members of the podcast team for the one-star review.

    Love this pod

I love podcasts in general but this one is my favorite, and I’ve recommended it to so many people. I adore Robert Evans. He is well-researched and presents the stories of terrible people with compassion and great empathy towards those victimized. He’s also really funny and a just joy to listen to 💜
