Best Changing Pad Covers of

Let’s be honest: as much as we love our babies, no one really enjoys changing their diapers. But a cute changing pad cover can brighten up the process.

Many parents use a changing pad as a soft, safe place to hold your child while you change them. A changing pad cover can be a handy part of this process. The cover can protect the actual pad from any accidents or messes. If your cover gets soiled, just throw it in the washer (we recommend registering for or buying two or three covers to switch out in between washes).

Changing pad covers also come in a wide range of lovely colors and prints to compliment your nursery decor or simply bring you a little bit of joy during diaper duty. (Tip: Check the measurements of the cover to make it sure it will fit your changing pad. Most fit standard sizes, but it’s always good to doublecheck.)

Here are some of our changing pad faves.

Welcome to your new role: A changer of So. Many. Diapers. Along with a diaper station stacked high with diapers, wipes and diaper cream, you’ll want the fourth hero of changing: a changing pad.

A changing pad will serve as a nice, cushiony spot where your baby will feel comfortable laying down. She might not always like changes, but at least you know she’s well supported. This nursery must-have also helps keep baby put — you’ll soon learn that your little one will suddenly get super squirmy when it’s time for diaper duty. Many of these pads go best with an added (and super cute) changing pad cover as another layer of protection. Often, that can be a great thing because you can buy the cover that suits your nursery decor best.

Choosing the best changing pad for your baby’s nursery

You’ll soon discover that there are a ton of options, and they may appear the same. That is, at first. These are the features you should look for:

  • Easy to clean. Look for material like foam, vinyl or polyurethane, which will resist absorbing pee and poop so that you can simply wipe it up and be on your way.
  • Well-cushioned. It needs to feel nice for baby to lay on, something that will help her stay calm.
  • Secure. There should be a non-skid bottom or straps that secure around furniture, as well as a strap that goes around baby’s middle. This is very important to reduce the risk of roll-off falls.

Here, the best changing pads you can add to your baby registry that you’ll use far more than you could ever imagine. Check out our picks below and get ready for those dirty diapers.

Why We Love It

This changing pad has everything you need to feel good about changing your baby on top of a dresser, including a safety strap on top to keep her secure and a safety strap that can attach the pad to furniture, too. Even though you’ll be putting a cover on top (and it is the perfect blank slate for the cutest cover you can find), it’s also reassuring that the pad’s vinyl material won’t absorb messes and nicely wipes off.

Why We Love It

This four-sided cocoon style changing pad is built with four-inch sides all around, which nestles baby in while you change her. Keekaroo Peanut changer

Why We Love It

While it’s on the pricier side, this is a perennial mom must-have thanks to the polyurethane pad that makes it resistant to messes. Some wayward pee? It’ll wipe clean in a flash. What’s more, the pad is well-cushioned and comfortable for your little squish. It’s also non-slip, and the pad itself is a pretty hefty weight, so it’s not going to slide when placed on top of a dresser. The walled sides and contoured shape keep baby in place, too.

Great!SuzanneI was hesitant to purchase this as it felt that it was filled with air and I am used to the traditional changing pads but baby was due and I needed it now so I took my chances and it is great! It is soft and comfortable for baby! Great soft edges to keep baby in, and better than traditional pads because it does not crack!!!5

Quality above expectedAmel M.Quality above expected5

Does not fit SNIGLAR changing tablenafanya33The pad is a nice quality and seams to be steady. BUT it does NOT fit standard SNIGLAR changing table (too long).1

Well worth the priceNicolabeanI thought this might be cheap, but it has held up so great the last 2 1/2 months from daily use. I have it on a changing table and then move to table when I bathe baby and need something soft to place baby on after bath.5

Strong and sturdy but soft as wellAdriSchmidzenGreat price, great size. Strong enough for a rambunctious toddler but will also be soft and comfy enough for a newborn.5

Works WellWinIt was a great buy, bought a second one for travel.5

Fantastic Changing PadJamesThis fits perfectly on the Solgul changing table. It's liquid resistant, large, and firm: perfect for baby. The edges are thick and raised to prevent an active baby from rolling off of it. Cant beat it for $

Me2MeLove it!! The size is ideal for a growing babies we have three under three and it’s perfect!5

BeckloveIt’s good but doesn’t fit ikea standard changing table3

LoverachomperooI love how high the bumpers are on the side. It's also made of a material that is some kind of plastic and it was really easy to wipe down before putting on the corresponding VADRA changing pad. I dig it :) Fits well in the Gulliver Changing Table5

Can"t ask for moreawb14So glad we didn't get the $40 one from BBB. This was low-cost and does the job! The plastic is thick so thus far a few months in it has not torn from heavy use. The padding is adequately firm. It fits our changing table, and baby, nicely!5

Love this soft and thickTressa60Best one ever! Stays exactly the way I git it! No dents5

No goodNekramer28I bought this because it was such a great deal, but we had already bought a furniture set from my husband's job, Art Van Furniture. Well we got the set together and the pad is too wide and doesn't fit. It ONLY fits ikeas cheap furniture. Honestly wasn't in love with it anyway. It's lights and hard as a brick like Styrofoam but what do you expect for

Excell Changing PadAnthonyBThis is our second changing pad from ikea. The first was an inflatable changing pad. The inflatable pad lasted a little while but the first hard kick down by the infant and it blew one of the chambers of air out and would not stay inflated after that. This one is memory foam feeling and is more substantial than the inflatable one. I would buy this one if I were you.5

RL68I bought this and I believe how versatile it isits work for naps too5

Nice product!Coloradohiker55I appreciate the sides that help keep baby safely on the pad. It is easy to wipe down down when the cover gets soaked. The pad also has plenty of space, so we can use it for the years to come.4

Great priceMDObriensBought for my 6 month old, and it is huge! Looked at pads st other stores and were smaller and more expensive. Love that there is a padded “rail” on 3 sides. Helps to wrangle my active boy.4

Ok for the money but not the bestrebecca88I have some Burt's Bees standard covers and haven't had trouble with them fitting over the pad. They are a little more stretchy so maybe that helps. My only downside is that there's no way to secure the pad to anything. We bought the Hemnes dresser to use as a changing table with the pad on top. However, now we have to figure out how to secure this without damaging the dresser for future use. Unless you buy an Ikea changing table, you'll have to come up with a solution to keep it stable and in position. Most others are double this price but if you have to spend the same money trying to find a solution, it becomes less of a deal.3

Very sturdy!electrakittyI bought this to replace a changing pad which was a hand me down and I was pleased with how sturdy and how well padded it is. Now that I know that the cover is an off-size, I can just buy replacements or make some new ones. Love it!4

A nice pad but doesn"t fit standard tablesCartec44We haven't put the pad to use yet but it feels as though it will be very comfortable for baby. We were a little disappointed because it doesn't fit standard changing tables. It does work well as a free standing pad if you put one of those rubber mats used to keep throws rugs in place.3
