James R. "Jim" Foster

James R. “Jim” Foster, 89, of Owensboro. Kentucky passed away Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born in Habit, Kentucky on December 16, 1931 to the late John and Mary Helen Wright Foster. Jim started working at the farm as a teenager, and went on to work at Honey Crust Bakery in 1948. After he served in the Army, Jim returned to Honey Crust and Colonial Bakery. Jim retired from Medley Distillery, in 1989. Jim was a member of the Baptist faith and an active member in the community. He was a Kentucky Colonel and a volunteer for Senior Community Center of Owensboro – Daviess County Meals on Wheels. In his free time, Jim enjoyed landscaping and gardening.

MADISONVILLE — Kim Keeling Hurt, 51, of Madisonville, formerly of Paducah, passed away of natural causes Monday, Oct. 11, 2021. in Evansville, Indiana. Kim was a faithful Baptist as well as a homemaker. Kim received an associate’s degree as a pharmacy technician and was a former employee of Ameri Source, Western Baptist Hospital and Walmart. Kim enjoyed scrapbooking, decorating, crafting, flowers and listening to country music. She cherished spending quality time with her family and her rat terrier, Macey.

Shannon Therese Wood Greer, 49 of Whitesville, was called home to be with the Lord on October 13, 2021 with her husband and children by her side. She was born on August 3, 1972 in Owensboro to Mike and Judy Lawrence Wood. Shannon was a 1991 graduate of Daviess County High School. She was a homemaker, stay-at-home mom and a member of Bethabara Baptist Church. She enjoyed Friday night lights with her boys, gym with her girls, and being with her family and friends. She loved the beach and Dr. Pepper.

Jane S. Kaufmann, 87, of Owensboro, passed away Sunday, Oct. 10, 2021, at her home. She was born in Philpot to the late Forrest H. and May Coons Sublett. Jane was a 1952 graduate of Daviess County High; earned her B.A. at Kentucky Wesleyan College, where she was recognized as valedictorian in 1956; and completed her education with a master’s degree in education from Indiana University in 1960. She retired in 1992 following a long career teaching in elementary schools in Glasgow, Warrensville Township Schools in Ohio and 17 years in Daviess County Schools. Mrs. Kaufmann was a member of Daviess County Retired Teachers Association and a longtime active member of Dawson Baptist Church in Philpot, where her many activities included serving as a Sunday school teacher for decades and directing VBS for several years.

Diana Keown, 66, of Owensboro, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2021, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. She was born in Montana to the late William and Barbara Kessenger. Diana was most recently a dedicated homemaker. She also worked as a dispatcher at Yellow Cab Co. for many years. Diana enjoyed collecting coins, crocheting and books and TV shows about crime stories. She also loved animals, especially her beloved dog, Gracie.
